Vijayawada: MSMEs are playing a key role with the implementation of innovative solutions on water management and for better sustainability with optimum utilisation of available water.

In an exclusive chat with Bizz Buzz on the occasion of World Water Day, Amit Mittal Founder and MD Chandpur Paper, said

“MSMEs are pioneers of sustainable water management by bringing meaningful changes through innovative recycling and reuse practices. At Chandpur Paper, we recycle and reuse 500,000 liters of water per day for cultivation on 100+ acres of land."

He said this initiative does not only reduce our dependence on fresh water sources but it also favors farmers in the vicinity, thereby making agriculture more sustainable and less of a drain on groundwater resources. "By embracing recycling of water as part of our business processes, we take voluntary efforts to conserve this extremely valuable resource for future generations.

Furthermore, our cutting-edge recycling technology has also been instrumental in curbing water waste by 40%, maximising efficiency of operations while remaining harmonious with global standards of sustainability. Also, our compliance with using

35,000 tonnes of waste paper annually, as opposed to virgin pulp, has gone a long way towards conserving water—up to 700 million liters of water each year..

Mittal stated that beyond their internal sustainability measures, they believed in fostering a collective approach to water

conservation. He said they work proactively with industry bodies, policymakers, and stakeholders to influence awareness and encourage best practices for industrial water stewardship. Together, through these efforts, their endeavor is to decrease overall industrial water usage by 20% establishing new standards for responsible manufacturing.

For MSMEs, sustainability is not only an environmental imperative anymore; it has become a strategic imperative for long-term business resilience. Conservation of water is part of the key to both ecological sustainability and economic sustainability. "At

Chandpur Paper, we keep innovating and investing in sustainable solutions, proving that MSMEs can take the lead in responsible water management. Our actions reinforce the reality that business development and sustainability of the environment can coexist,

setting the stage for a more efficient use of resources and a sustainable future," he informed.

Asked to comment on their contribution to water conservation, Kalpesh Ramoliya, Managing Director at Raj Cooling Systems, pointed out that water is a resource that should be used wisely because it will be a lasting asset for years to come. MSMEs are responsible for innovating in waste reduction and water management, although conservation and efficiency are crucial components of total management.

He said |today, several small and medium enterprises have initiated the usage of smart water-saving techniques such as rainwater harvesting, wastewater recycling, and efficient irrigation systems. All these practices have helped businesses in reducing their costs alongside reducing their environmental footprint. Moreover, digital monitoring tools will even account for the water use and optimise it in such a way that waste is reduced to a bare minimum. Below measures, however, not only save water, but make operations more resilient to water scarcity challenges.

Kalpesh said sustainability is imperative today; it is no longer an option. Governments and industries worldwide have recognized the need for water conservation and encourage companies that adopt eco-friendly practices in their process. Most of the MSMEs take this offer as an opportunity to invest in more advanced filtration and purification technologies, which could reuse water in the processes within the safe limits. Some of them go for nature-based solutions like wetlands construction for treating the effluent.

Responsible water management brings business benefits beyond direct savings and compliance with environmental regulations: it builds trust with customers and stakeholders.Today, consumers are inclined to environmentally responsible brands, and MSMEs that lead in water conservation thus gain a competitive edge.

He said "all businesses, whether big or small, have an equal responsibility in the conservation of natural resources. Raj Cooling Systems abides by this principle since they say that, though economic growth is essential, regarding water efficiency and sustainability measures also is very doable. Such a commitment to innovation is molding a world where industries could flourish without compromising future generations and needs.
